The Student Data Mapper is a Collaborative GIS. Create a project, contribute data, and make a map - all through the web. Teachers may have classrooms participate in projects authored by other teachers, or may create one of their own projects. Any project in the The Student Data Mapper that is not directly supporting K-16 education may be administratively removed without warning.

We have many great advocates - and we sincerely thank them!


To participate in another's class project
If you would like to participate in a project authored by another teacher, search for the project based on keyword or author name in the box below. When you find the project, bookmark the address and then direct your students to the website. If you are a teacher wishing to have a class participate in a project, you may find it helpful to first contact the author by email.

To create your own project

  1. Create a teacher account at KanGIS. This account username and password will be required for you to build and/or edit a project.
  2. Login to create or edit webpages, data tables, and a real-time Internet-based GIS map.
